Hi.

I'm Joseph Lim, a full-stack web developer and designer living and working in Brooklyn, NY.

Who I Am...

I'm a coder and designer interested in how software can help solve complex problems.

I recently completed Flatiron School's online full-stack web development program. I believe my background in architecture helps me work holistically and I'd like to find a role where I can use my problem solving and coding skills to design solutions to tough problems.

At a previous gig I helped develop a tool to track and present the pipeline of work as it moved from business development leads through team-building and finally into active projects.

What I Know...

I've got experience with Ruby, Ruby-on-Rails, Sinatra, mySQL, Angular 1.6, Javascript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS

I'm also handy with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Rhino3D, Grasshopper, V-ray, Arduino and Processing.

What I've Done

Angular Messages

The app “Messages” is more whimsical than practical. I began by asking myself a question: “What if there were a digital messaging service with a built in “uncertainty” to the timing of a message’s delivery?” How would it change how people communicated or used the messages? To play with the idea I created a single page app in Angular with a Postgres database, Rails JSON API, and Devise for user authentication. The front end has been done using customized Bootstrap.

Rails Dinner Party

Some time ago my partner and I ran a small clandestine restaurant out of our apartment. This app represents a first pass at an app we wished we'd had. It takes reservations, tracks them, and lets diners see the tasting-menu that was served (what was in that again?!). Built completely on Rails with a mySQL database and the Skeleton CSS boilerplate.

String EQ

An Arduino and Processing project completed for NYU's ITP program. This group project was designed to accept audio input, analyze it, and then to translate it into servo motor motion. Arduino, Processing, MaxMSP.

Ancient History

This project analyzes a FireFox data file and turns it into an interactive app visualizing my browsing history from a period of time in 2011. Site visits can be ordered chronologically or by frequency.
